Moving one step ahead in its CSR undertakings to support the nation, Himalaya Airlines operated its first humanitarian flight to Kabul, Afghanistan today, carrying 9.7 tons (9715 kg) of relief materials upon request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal. Adhering to its CSR commitments, Himalaya has contributed a total of USD 106,850.00 equivalent to Rupees 1.25 crores approximately to the noble cause by operating the flight free of cost.

Himalaya Airlines, a Nepal-China joint venture airline, has been operating two weekly flights to Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Prior to lockdown 2.0, Himalaya Airlines had been offering 10 direct flights to Dammam in Saudi Arabia since 1st of September, 2017. With the recent resumption of the flights, the flow of passengers flying to Damman, Saudi Arabia surged for which the airlines increased the flights to four weekly flights effective from 11th July 2021.

With regards to the current situation, there have been misleading news reports and allegations across the digital news platforms, falsely accusing the airlines with airfare cartelization claiming the airline is charging high air fares for Kathmandu to Dammam flights and the stay-in quarantine facilities which was mandated by Saudi Arabia as well as Nepal government.

Reinforcing the association with Prayas Nepal, Himalaya Airlines continued its CSR support for ‘Step towards Education’ with year-long educational supplies for the fifth year in a row. During a brief interaction program held on Sept 29, 2021, Himalaya Airlines officials handed over the stationaries including notebooks, registers, pens etc. and the academic course books for various grades to the children of Prayas Nepal. The airlines also provided different educative COVID-19 safety posters for display in the organization to increase awareness of the safety protocols.

July 07, 2021 Himalaya Airlines, a Nepal-China joint venture airline, has recently launched its online ticket booking engine, which allows customers to make booking on its website https://him-air.com .This platform available on the desktop and mobile is all about connecting people to destinations.

At the early stage of this service, customers with access to connectIPS are able to purchase and refund tickets along with availing other services such as flight and fare search, refunds and member service. The airline also plans to launch other ancillary services like pre-book baggage, seat, meal selections, lounge, bundled fares, SMS notification, VISA/Master Card payment and web check-in through the upcoming phases.

Himalaya Airlines, a Nepal - China joint venture airline, resumed its operations to Dubai on February 14, 2021, after a long gap. The Airlines first took off to Dubai International Airport on April 28, 2017 connecting with Abu Dhabi via free shuttlebus for onwards passengers. However with increased passenger traffic direct flight to Abu Dhabi International Airport was initiated from March 31, 2019 instead of Dubai.

In the face of the second surge of COVID-19, Himalaya Airlines, in line with its CSR commitments, has yet again come forward to support the nation by bringing home 200,000 doses of Vero Cell vaccines donated by the Tibet Autonomous Region Government, PRC. Himalaya’s Airbus 319-115, 9N-AJK is operating four back-to-back flights to Kunming on Jun 01 & Jun 02, 2021 for transporting vaccines. Total 200,000 doses of SARS-CoV-2 vaccine (Vero Cell) are being carried in 417 boxes for free by Himalaya.

Himalaya Airlines and Yeti Airlines have entered into a strategic business partnership for integration of network, expansion of sales growth and for gradual extension of support in e-commerce functionalities of both the companies. First agreement to this effect of Application Programming Interface (API) was signed by the representatives of both the companies at a small ceremony held today, January 27, 2021.
